Trolley Shed

The committee are on the war path about the state of the equipment being left lying around. You have till the end of the month to claim your gear or it will be disposed of by the committee.

A huge field took to the course for yet another sponsored Medal. The sponsor paying the entry fee for all players and buying everyone a drink after the round. Results as above, also well done to best under 49 year old Colin Muir, best 50-59 year old John Black, best 60-69 year old David McNee and best over 70’s Mike Ivory, all winning a sleeve of balls.

1st March 2025

So we proved again we are not just a Golf Club. North Bute Primary school used our clubhouse today for their fundraising Bingo day. Over 40 people brought their “dabbers” and got their eyes down for some family fun. 10 rounds of bingo, a bonus ball scratch card, a raffle, and an auction. With the club donating prizes, friends and families donating bottles, gift sets, toys etc etc, the school raised £660 for the kids trip. Huge thanks to Heather Sweet for the bingo and the running of the raffle, also big thanks go to Susan Slaven and Mandy McLaughlan for planning the whole event. Great to give back to the island. Get in touch if you wish to hire the clubhouse for your event, if it’s for a local cause or a charity and you use the bar it’s free of charge.

Quarter finals Results

Stuart & Kalum bt Ewan & Dunky 6&5
Rod & Chrissy bt John & Graham at hole 20
Sean & Wills bt Kaki & Gordy 3up
Big Al & Davie bt Sam & Iain 2up

Race for the wooden spoon

Carl & Colin bt Matthew & John 1up
John & David bt Hector & Neil 3&2
Matt & Martin bt Davie & Ryan 3&2
Spall & Martin bt Graham & David (walk over)

Well done to all the winners today, some good results and great golf.

Biggest victory of the day went to “The Gilk” and long suffering partner Kalum, who trounced Ewan 6&5, although Ewan was on his own.
Ports Ginger Duo Sean & Wills beat Kaki & Gordy 3up, Sean getting into Gordy’s head early doors in the clubhouse.
Big Al & Davie bt Match Secretary pair of Sam & Iain 2up after a big night out on the tiles last night for Sam’s 50th.
Longest game of the day was Roddie & Chrissy beating John & Graham on the 20th hole. After taking two scuddings from them in the league stages, Roddie and Chrissy proved it’s not how you get there, it’s what you produce when you arrive.

Last years champions Carl & Colin beat club champion Matthew and big John 1up.
Battle of the Whitelaws (plus David McNee) saw John and David beating Hector & Neil 3&2.
Martin & Matt bt the father and son Driver duo 3&2.

The quarter final draw was made straight after in the clubhouse

8:30am Roddie & Chrissy v Stuart & Kalum
8:40am Big Al & Davie v Sean & Wills
Wooden spoon race ties to be confirmed.
Thanks as always to Leighton at Rothesay Motor Services for their continued support.

Rothesay Motors Winter League week 5

Week 5 of the Rothesay Motor Services winter league threw up a few surprises and a few “scuddings”.
Biggest upset of the week was Davie Greer and Big Al beating last years winners Colin and Carl 6&4, maybe not a huge surprise of the result but the score line is a bit of a shock. A lot of people standing in as a substitute this week as this was pencilled in due to last weeks call off. The course was in superb condition and as always we were all fed and watered in the bar afterwards. The leagues will be posted soon, but with one qualifier to go, there are still a few leagues which will go to the wire.
