The greenkeepers Quaich

Yesterday saw us play the last big competition before we hunker down for the winter league. The greenkeepers Quaich. Duncan has been at the helm now for years, and just when you think he can’t improve things anymore, he consistently proves us wrong and improves  the course some more…..
Without him and Graham I really don’t know where the course would be….
40 golfers took to the hallowed turf with a huge array of prizes up for grabs.
Pictures of the prize winners below, a two man scramble format in tough wet conditions….
Winners on the day were Davie Greer and Colin Muir
Second were Lewis Poole and John Murray
In third place was Colin Renfrew and Robert Jardine
Best scratch of the day was Donald Standaloft and Davie Kilpatrick
Well done to all who took part.

Huge thanks again to Roddie and Hazel for the bar and the food.

The Ryder Cup Port style

The Ryder Cup Port style, you’ve all heard of the magic of Medina? Well this was the “massacre at the mains”, or the “pumpin at the Port”
Team Europe led by club captain Matty Dunn, with vice captain Sam Jamieson took on team USA, with captain Donald Standaloft and vice captain Roddie Leitch at the helm. A few singles matches were played with the rest consisting of 4 balls.

Team USA got the ball rolling early doors handing out free shots to all USA players for breakfast to loosen up the limbs…..
This had the desired effect, with USA storming the hallowed course to scud team Europe 7-6.

A few notable scores along the way with Club Champion Donald Standaloft beating Matthew Dunn 3up,  Neil McKay (Europe) beating Robert Jardine, (USA) 7&6, but the biggest scudding of the day belonged to USA vice captain Roddie Leitch who beat his opposing vice captain 10up, a  right royal doing…..
Anita Rutherford and Liz McMillan bt Janet McAllister and Cath Rae, taking the points home for the USA in the ladies match.
A great day was had by all, huge thanks to Donald, Matthew, Sam and Roddie for all the organising, Duncan and Graham, as always and even after the rain yesterday, the course was in fantastic condition, and as always a huge thanks to Hazel and Roddie for the amazing food and drink
